Necrons - Full army shots

Well, here they are. While they're not my best work and far from my favourite army I have to say they look pretty nice all laid out together. Sorry for the less than great photos, I was in a bit of a rush when I took these so some are kind of crappy. If you click through the "necron" tag you can probably find better photos of individual miniatures and units.

As I mentioned in past posts, I'm getting rid of these guys. I have too many armies and the desire to play and paint more with the Necrons isn't so strong, so I hope they can find a better home. My friend will be selling them for me, and he's in the States (rather than here in Japan with me) so shipping will be from America. If you're interested contact him here.

The whole army. Click for big, and a few more pics after the jump...

Unit finished - Necron Wraiths

Here's my unit of 5, both with and without the obligatory Destroyer Lord.
Why only 5? Well, number 6 went missing somewhere in my bitz box before I could build him. Maybe he'll resurface one day.
They just want to be friends. Whipcoils and Mindshackle scarabs for everyone!

Necron Annihilation Barges - unmanned conversion

"Converting" these guys was much simpler. Just leave the pilots off.

Necron Nightscythe - unmanned conversion

Continuing my quest to finish off my Necrons so they can go off to a better home comes the Nightscythe.
There are elements of the Necron aesthetic that I like and elements I don't. One thing I'm not a fan of is piloted vehicles. For me it's much more sinister to use huge soulless drones, so I made sure all of my vehicles had no visible pilots. It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure this was a pretty basic conversion using only the bits in the box. It's possibly the pilot's chair flipped upside down, or something like that.

Necron Triarch Stalker

I haven't touched my Necrons in ages, so I decided it might be time to send them off to a better home.
As such I'm painting up the last few minis for the army so I can hopefully sell them as a painted lot.

Is that a heat ray slung underneath your terrifying metallic thorax or are you just pleased to see me?
Nothing special but looks good on the tabletop I hope. It's good to be painting something purple again though!

Anyway, here's the Triarch Stalker. As with all my vehicles it's been converted to get rid of the pilot. I like to imagine Necron vehicles are like drones or AIs or something.

Unit Finished - Destroyer Lord

Imotekh the Stormlord wasn't going to be used so I "upgraded" him. I think I like him better this way.
Here's my finished Destroyer Lord. He was a lot of fun to paint. I think I'm getting better at the glowy bits, too.
He was actually a last minute addition to my army, added in because he cost exactly he right amount of points.
I've used him in 2 games so far and he's been fantastic in both, slaughtering his way through a bunch of stuff. Hooray!
My pictures are kind of crappy. I think for Christmas I'll buy myself a nice light box or something!

Necron Deathmark

Here's my first Deathmark. I love these guys. 5 of them with a Harbinger of Despair never fails me, teleporting around the battlefield and shutting down people's brains.
Most of my weapons have purple glowy bits, so I went with blue on these guys with a black carapace to make them stand out a little more, being elite assassins and all.

Unit Finished - Harbinger of Destruction 2

I'm not sure which Cryptek is the current Internet favourite. Maybe the Harbinger of the Storm? Either way, I like a few Destruction Crypteks in my army. They can deal with vehicles, they add some ranged threat beyond the standard Necron 24", and they bring some high strength low AP for chipping away at Terminators, Monsterous Creatures or whatever. They have nice utility. Plus, huge laser-lance gun-cannons! That's always good, right?
Anyway, I have 3 in my list and here's the second.

Destroyer Lord WIP

When I started my Necrons, one of the first figures I picked up was Imotekh the Stormlord. He was a cool figure and I thought I might use him.

Well, time has progressed and I'm pretty sure he won't see the battlefield any time soon. So, rather than have him sitting around on the shelf doing nothing I decided to put him to use and re-purpose him as a Destroyer Lord.

A WIP, I'll be adding a Warscythe and jazzing up his back a little. It looks kind of plain without the cloak.

500pts Necrons vs Dark Eldar

Earlier this week I ran a short intro game of 40k for a friend who's just starting out.
My goal was to showcase a few different unit types and give a general feel for how things interact with other things.
Simple stuff but everything was painted so I took some pictures!
This pretty much sums up how the game went. The Dark Eldar get gunned down by the Necrons with very little robotic casualties in return.

Unit Finished - Harbinger of Destruction

Well, here's another painted Cryptek for you. The first of 3 Harbingers of Destruction! I decided these guys will be mostly metal and I'll let the multiple glowy bits add interest to the miniature. Keeping the shoulders metallic means they don't get lost in the unit they join so much.
The blade on his weapon was originally turquoise blue but it didn't work at all.

Unit Finished - Necron Scarabs

These guys were nice and quick to paint. "paint" may be overestimating things, however I did spend a fair amount of time on the bases ;)
"Delicious, eh Shrapnel?"

Fairly standard scarabs, although you may notice a few mini scarabs from the tomb kings sprues as space fillers.

Unit Finished - Necron Overlord

Well, he's been sitting half complete for months now, so I thought it was long past time to finish him off.
Colours actually came out a lot more vivid than they usually do. The iPhone's camera is pretty sweet.

Harbinger of the Storm - Cryptek Conversion

So, I'm buildiing the final few figures needed to finish off my Necron army. Final few until I decide to add in more wraiths (very likely) or my group arbitarily decides to change points values (again very likely). The last few I need at the moment, however, are the Crypteks. I already made my Harbinger of Despair and my Harbinger of Destruction with solar pulse, but i need a few more plasmancers to add to my units. While building them, I had the urge to make a Harbinger of the Storm. I'm not sure he'll see much use (I'm not sure I need the extra anti tank so the higher S and range of the destruction teks seems more useful right now), but I built him anyway. It's always nice to have options!

Necron Lord Cosplay

I've seen plenty of Imperial costumes, a few Eldar (and even a titan) but this is the first Necron outfit I've seen.
Looks pretty badass!
Via Kotaku

I'm moving soon (today in fact!). I'm hoping once I'm settled in and have some more room I'll get back into painting stuff!

Harbinger of Destruction - Cryptek Conversion

Just a conversion today. I've not been doing much painting lately, but I'm sure I'll get back on the hobby horse sooner or later.
There is a 74.56% chance of your face being shot by my huge laser.

Anyway, here's my first Harbinger of Destruction Cryptek. I'll paint the control panel things up as glowing energy, in a kind of minority report high tech interface thingy. I figure he's busy calculating the correct setting to unleash a Solar Pulse while his shoulder cannon fires off by itself.

Unit Finished - Necron Warriors 2

5 more Warriors done, including a few with battle damage.
I think I'll end up with about 25 warriors in total once I've assembled everything. I'm not sure how to run them; The Internet advocates multiple small units, but I think larger squads to take advantage of Reanimation Protocols might be the way forward.

Necron Overlord WIP

Lord or Overlord? Either way, he's pretty much just the plastic Lord with a Lychguard Warscythe. Just a work in progress to show the basic colour layout.

I was actually planning to have the loin cloth and cloak turquoise, but I forgot and painted it purple. I think it'll work out better this way!

Unit Finished - Harbinger of Despair

This is a fairly common conversion, but that's because it's a good one. The plastic Warhammer Heroes range has been pretty fantastic so far. Lots of scope for cool conversions.
"Oh, I'm not actually a Cryptek. I'm just cosplaying as Cloak."
Anyway, I decided to avoid the usual hi-tech staff and go for something a bit more pragmatic. The Harbinger's weapon is a template, so I imagined it to be some sort of psychic flamethrower. His other hand is a gauntlet with a built in teleportation device for Veil of Darkness-ing around the battlefield.

More pics after the jump!
