500pts Necrons vs Dark Eldar

Earlier this week I ran a short intro game of 40k for a friend who's just starting out.
My goal was to showcase a few different unit types and give a general feel for how things interact with other things.
Simple stuff but everything was painted so I took some pictures!
This pretty much sums up how the game went. The Dark Eldar get gunned down by the Necrons with very little robotic casualties in return.

Emperor's Children Colour Test

Words cannot describe how excited I am for the new Chaos codex. Aside from maybe the Orks, Chaos would be the army I've loved for longest. Slaanesh is my God of choice, and I am eager to unleash waves of sonic destruction upon the servants of the Corpse Emperor once more. The Forge World Heresy book isn't helping much.

Anyway, my skills have improved quite a bit since I painted my EC several years ago, and as I love them so much I want to do the army justice. My last scheme was mostly comprised of washes, which looked ok, but I want something I can...show off a bit more with. Seems appropriately Slaaneshi.

Dark Vengeance had me reaching for the purple paint, but I'm holding off for now. I'll probably want to do some weapon swaps or something. I want the Chosen to be as deadly on the battlefield as they look.

So I grabbed this guy and forced him to submit before the angry paintbrushes of destiny.

I'm not sure I like the stark contrasts between the shades of purple at the moment. Something more subtle might work better I think.

Anyway, please give me some C&C!

Iron Hands Deathwatch Marine

One of my friends at a forum I frequent is in the midst of a pretty cool project. A Deathwatch marine army, where each member of the community paints up their own marine, and then mails it back to him. They chose their chapter and paint it according to their own style and skill. The army will be getting a unifying set of resin bases once it's done. I think it's going to look pretty cool. It' will be using the Grey Knights rules to represent the fact that each marine is an individual, and the elite/weird/specialist loadout of each guy.
Anyway, as my Imperial Chapter of choice is the Indomitable Iron Hands, I had no choice. Here's my marine!
The whole army will be getting resin bases, so he's just super glued on there. I slopped some Citadel Texture paint on quickly for the photo tho.

Unit Finished - Harbinger of Destruction

Well, here's another painted Cryptek for you. The first of 3 Harbingers of Destruction! I decided these guys will be mostly metal and I'll let the multiple glowy bits add interest to the miniature. Keeping the shoulders metallic means they don't get lost in the unit they join so much.
The blade on his weapon was originally turquoise blue but it didn't work at all.

Unit Finished - Necron Scarabs

These guys were nice and quick to paint. "paint" may be overestimating things, however I did spend a fair amount of time on the bases ;)
"Delicious, eh Shrapnel?"

Fairly standard scarabs, although you may notice a few mini scarabs from the tomb kings sprues as space fillers.

Unit Finished - Necron Overlord

Well, he's been sitting half complete for months now, so I thought it was long past time to finish him off.
Colours actually came out a lot more vivid than they usually do. The iPhone's camera is pretty sweet.
